Not all the time. D/Darts were built in sequence. Not all the SO numbers were correct though.
On your fender tag, the first 3 numbers of the SO Number is the scheduled production date. Should be close to, but it's not the day it was built..
On the front of the engine, driver side, just below where the head meets the block, there is a stamped number. The one on my D/Dart is B-273-4-27 which equates to being built on 4-27.
My SO number is 417 or 4-17. So the body was built and stamped for a 4-17 build but the engine wasn't built until 4-27. Ted picked it up from the plant on Friday 4-29. It was the first one delivered.
