And further more, the heads are the important part in whether it's a poly or not. Why? Because LA blocks and poly blocks are the same. You can put poly heads on an LA block and vise Versa. There's other stuff that has to be swapped as well but it's all bolt in or on.
There's actually documented cases of early 318 LAs having the same casting numbers on the block as early 318 Polys for the reasons stated above.
