I've been riding a bicycle for 54 of my 59 years. Yesterday, I got a little too close to my wife (on her bike), and couldn't get out of it.
Next thing I knew, my wife, along with my nephew and his wife were asking me if I knew who they were! I never passed out, but was very pale and queasy for a bit.
Now I have a cast on my right wrist, a splint on my left wrist, an appointment with my dentist for tomorrow to look at a cracked tooth, and an MRI coming up on my left shoulder to see why I can't lift my arm!
Be careful, no matter what you're doing!

Oh, and I have a bottomless drink going on my coffee table, thanks to me wifey, who came out with just a sore rib.

I gave up on bikes the last time I rode one, over 20 years ago.

Hit by a dude in a mini-Blazer & he did not slow down or stop............

Me and my boy ride bikes (he's 8)
It's great exercise and great father/son time

We usually do about 6 miles in one trip, and I intend to drop him off at school on his bike when they start again
(That's only 3 miles)

That sucks but...
Pics or it didn't happen.:D

At our age, these little misshaps sometimes lead to broken hips, and extended hospital stays that lead to death. I'm never going to hospital for extended stay, there is no way to tell what those people put into your body. Too many people I have known never came outta there alive.
Ok I'm just funning ya, glad to see you're gonna live to ride again.

A friend of mine went in for a heart valve replacement , and caught a staff infection of some sort in the hospital, they didn`t admit it, but wanted to do an autopsy on him to see what killed him. He didn`t have the infection when he went in there . Her was only 62 !

Same with my Dad

Owwwww. I hope you recover well.
Waiting for results of shoulder MRI, but I aways look at limb injuries as minor. Could be cancer, heart problem, etc. Thank you for the well wishes.

Cool. I ride about 15 miles a day back and forth from work. Other than the broken limbs (lol), my dr. says I'm ticking right along.

My niece just happen to get a shot seconds before. Thank God there's no photographic proof of it. It's going to be hard enough getting back on the bike.

I know you're kidding, some other replies seem to imply that hospitals kill people. I'll bet their batting avg. is pretty high.

I'm shopping for a bubble wrap suit now. Everyone says ya got to have a helmet, (I've been previously convinced.) but the rest of your body can take some s*** too! Those pro bike riders take some real abuse!

I crashed one time each; on ice, hardpack snow, and gravel; last winter while walking or running. I took one in the tail, one in the arm and one in the shoulder. At 65, they say your bones can break doing that. But it was nothing.
I do know several people tho, that did exactly that and went to hospital, and never came out alive. From broken hips tho!
Anyway, I guess we gotta be more careful as we get older. Glad you are gonna be all right.

Didn't realize I never followed up on this.

The MRI showed completely torn supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons at the humerus. -Part of what is commonly called "rotator cuff".

It's been almost 5 months (Sep 13) since they sewed me back together. Four months of therapy. My last therapy appointment is Tuesday. I'm probably about 90%. I did almost the same thing to my right shoulder 3 years ago, so I know that it'll take a year to a year and a half to be "all there".

My surgeon happens to be the guy who repaired the Phila Eagles' Alshon Jeffrey's rotator cuff last year. I told him to tell Alshon to watch out next season! :)

Oh, and I'm back on my bike. Gotta git back on the horse that threw ya!

Good to hear. Dang, it takes a long time to heal.

You're more likely to catch a staph Infection in the Hospital than just about anywhere.

Thanks folks. I only posted about this because I've learned that lots of people don't know how long, and how intensive, rotator cuff repair is. As I said earlier, there are more serious issues to deal with in life, such as cancer or heart problems, etc.
At least folks on FABO can read about what's involved. DO THE THERAPY RELIGIOUSLY!
I appreciate all of the help I get here regarding my Duster project, and just want to try to pay back some.
