My son and I just picked up a 65 Valiant over the weekend. Other than the floor, the car is pretty solid. Rails, rockers, trunk, all solid. I think the floor rotted due to the "padded vinyl" that was put on the floor and in the trunk. The padding held moisture and was begining to rust the trunk but we got to it in time. The floors however are toast. All I've seen so far is floorpan sections for these cars. Does anyone make a full floorpan, or have one near San Antonio they will sell us?

your best bet is to start pricing auto recyclers throughout the sun belt. I have a 66 and they don't even make sections for 1 year only design. no one on here has had one for sale in the last 3 years.

if your car is not a 100% correct restoration you can use a 67-69 full floor pan. a guy on here told me he did it and showed me pictures. you just have to make it fit and as I hear this is the case with all repop body parts even if they are correct replacement parts, you have to make them fit.

Thanks, I'm aware of having to make parts fit and don't have a problem with that at all. I had not considered using a floor from a later model. I'd thought they were too different. I'd love to see those pictures. Sounds like a very viable solution.

in a perfect world though, I find someone with a car that got hit by a low flying aircraft that as a solid bottom.. :)

Thanks for the tip

finding a full floor pan? Id say not a chance. Start fabbin' or adaptin'. Even if you found one how would you get it sent? truck? Good luck.

I did say near San Antonio, so yeah, I'd stick it in my truck...

I will look for the post but I believe it was posted on the old server/software before they changed FABO to the new format and if it was its gone for good, shame too cause the guy did a really good job of installing it. I believe he said that it wasn't really all that hard to adapt it to the car.

you might try messaging White Punk On Nitro. haven't seen him on the site for a while though.

and here it is.

replacing the floors - 66 dart

look at 66Dvert reply with photo's.

but he is not correct 66 is different than 63-65. what's different are the strengthening ribs stamped into the pan. but the welds and the raised part where the seats bolt to and bolt holes ect are the same.

My 66 car has 67 and later floor pans in it. In the mid 90’s that was all you could get. Yes there was trimming and fitting involved, but nobody ever called me out on any differences!

Thanks for finding this! I have no issues with putting the 'wrong' part in the car as long as it's a sane purpose and this is pretty sane in my opinion. I was going to ask about the humps and bumps but you've answered that too.

:thankyou:

I haven't checked yet, but what is the difference in the pan width?

be advised the 66 and down are way different than the 67 and up as far as the seat mounts, the way the trans tunnel mates to firewall and even how the tunnel fits clearance in the bottom of a bench seat. it probably will not. seat belts also.

you just wont be making a floor pan fit, you will be making everything else fit that bolts to it.

I figured it won't be simple, but it's better than having a flintstone car. Still, I'll look high and low for a legit floor.

Thanks
