Anyone know what rear end would have come in a 66 273 2bbl Barracuda? I checked the fluid level and found the cover port and plug had no threads left.

It looks like it could be a 8-1/4".

does it look like #1 or #2?

First year for the 8 1/4" was 1969, but one could have been swapped in.

Get a photo of what you have & post it?

The scrounger in me says carefully cut a 3/4" pipe coupler in half, align it properly, braise it on, use pipe plug of choice. Man, I worked around rock plants waaayyy too long.

could get something like this, recuts threads to a +1 oversize.

If I can't stumble on one of these, I'll do the weld repair, then hunt down a 8-1/4 for the long term fix. I've gone through a bit of expense to keep is a 4" wheel bolt pattern. I believe the 66 Barracuda will accept a '72' 8-1/4

I've seen plugs for stripped oil pan bolts that almost look like dry wall anchors...that might do the trick too

Need a cover? I have one on a rear I can check.

An "A" body 8 1/4 should swap right in. Drive shaft probably will have to be changed. I have a 66 B-Cuda that someone put in an 8 1/4, with 5 on 4.5 in bolt pattern brakes. I was all set to change it out, till I really investigated its identity. Ive allways had 8 3/4 rears in my A bodies, till this one.
