I am going to build/rebuild my 440. I know that there is tremendous knowledge and expertise here which I am grateful for. I also want to get a reference book for rebuilding a 440. There are several at amazon. Any recommendations?

They are from.

Andy Finkbeiner
Don Taylor
Chuck Senatore
Arvid Svendsen

Andy puts a bunch of free info on the big block section. He manufactures a bunch of stuff that other mopar suppliers sell. When the trick flows came out for bbm he really helped with intake dyno and a 470 build. He is good people and knows his stuff.

My suggestion..........buy 2, Andy's and Chuck.............you would have a selection of old school and new information......

Good luck!!

@JBurch I ordered both. Also thanks for the AR engineering reference. That is new to me. I see that Andy is the owner of AR

I have not heard or seen the book by Arvid Svendsen but it say rebuild not hot rod. That is a basic know how book which is good.
I have Chucks book and Andy’s book.

Andy is here under the screen name AndyF. He can help you directly.

I have Don Taylor’s small block rebuild book and it was excellent.

you picked 2 very good books, may I suggest 2 more, Mopar Performance engines and chassis books.

I hope that post wasn’t for me since the Oe poster is looking for help on 4 choices on books.

Ether way, I have your mentioned books and second there purchase after one learns rebuilding for driving or light spirited driving.

it wasn't ! and I bet , like me, you have the original DC versions. and I believe a must for any performance Mopar build.

Some of my older DC books bit the dust and were pasted onto wanting hands in there dilapidated shape. The updated MP engines and chassis books took there place.

I do like to gather books! Always good to have stuff on paper at your finger tips for when ever the need arises. 1 copy in the bed room, 1 copy in the garage.

Thanks for the suggestion on the MP books . I got them on Ebay for $44 as a set. They are not available everywhere. Just a small distraction from this topic but still relevant. What Mopar magazines do you subscribe to?? "Mopar magazine, mopar muscle, Car Craft, Hot Rod, Motor trend, Road and Track, Car and Driver, Hemmings Muscle machines....... Any I am missing?

The magazines are nice reads best in helping to show the car. There builds can be interesting. Some
Builds I find a bit weird on there power returns, others seem right about correct. The problem with it seems to be more there credibility in the public eyes. Many people believe there just fluffing numbers to help sell the products they use bacuse there also being advertised in that magazine.

I don’t believe that. If you do, fine. The way I see it is if you pay for advertisement in the magazine then that’s what you get. IF I use your part, then I use your part.

If you pay me to use your part, then an honest reply will follow and if, IF you don’t like it, tough, your left with a few choices starting with if you should make a better part or not.

IF you get upset and decide to pull your advertisements (money) that’s your call for I am sure my honest magazine will not need your money or lies to the public on your parts which may not helpful them anyway.

Reader beware, gather facts, talk to people that have been there and done that before making a purchase. Just because it is popular doesn’t make it the best or right for YOUR COMBO!!!

With all of that babble said, the mag builds can be Inspirational and thought provoking.
And remember, there is no shame in a copycat build. It is probably the best compliment you could give to the person you’re copying the build from.

I have the Taylor and Sven books. I thought they were decent when I rebuilt my 440 for the Coronet.
Pretty basic info with a few tidbits that I hadnt heard before. Worth the 10 bucks or whatever they were.
But honestly, I got most everything I needed from various forums (wasnt a member here back then).

The 727 rebuild book was very useful though. I dont think I would have tackled that rebuild without it....but thats another thing...just sayin
