16:1 vs 24:1 steering

I've got a few hundred miles on a manual 16:1 box now and it's a bit much in a parking lot.

I understand that alignment specs can impact stopped/steering effort...but as mine sits, is a bear. I'm not a small guy and I stay in shape...and I'd hate to have to make an emergency K-Turn! I'll live with the 16:1...it's not un-drivable but if I could do it over again, I'd go 20:1.
