no, it's just bolted right on top the intake. I hope I didn't make this intake challenge incomplete by not working each to the max. But I did treat each the same, bolt and go. It's just time consuming (i'm pretty busy) and I'm about 1 hr away from the strip, I don't get down there much. But, I think the point is still valid, on a mild small block, and someone working with a strict budget, no need to look passed a cheap factory cast intake.
