Looking for some creative options.
I had a removable steering wheel on one of my last vehicles to deter a thief from trying to drive away with my car. However, this was not a solution for a thief with a flatbed. What security devices are people using to prevent theft and/or locate their vehicles after the theft has occurred?

My car is a 4 speed.... seems like not many people these days even know how to drive a stick shift

Have we ironed out the hidden spare cell phone tracking device ? I remember a thread about that and thought there were some pretty good ideas.

I have installed a system that after the thief drives off in it , it locks all doors and windows and the ignition in the run poss. and an exhaust cut out opens to the heater ducts.

I have a battery shut off switch mounted under the dash.

A co-workers car was stolen and found fast, it had a lo-jack system installed in it.

Battery disconnect.
Ignition kill.
Fuel pump kill
Removable steering wheel.

That said nothing stops a guy with a tow truck, except lo jack...

Let's face the cold hard facts here, if some shitbag wants your car, they will find a way to grab it as you found out the hard way. They say you could cripple an entire generation by having manual shift cars, writing in cursive, and making them read a map to get somewhere. They key is not so much ant theft, but vehicle retrieval after the fact. My go to is this little jewel for $22 on Amazon, simply stick it under seat (front or rear) and be done with it. When we went car shopping for my youngest son the car dealer was shocked my son was in the market for a manual transmission. He said the same thing, best antitheft device was a manual transmission. Both my sons know very well how to drive a manual. My wife and I both drive manual and told them they would have to learn to a well. Other than our big block duster and my sons valiant, all our cars are stick. The cursive thing and a map, yeah that's another story. It makes me mad that they don't teach cursive in school, or basic common sense anymore either.

If you are using Fitech fuel injection switch you distributor setting from Tach to 2 wire or vice versa if you're using a MSD distributor.

At the risk of sounding dumb what's a lo jack?

Lo jack is s vehicle tracking system. It's used I believe by satellite tracking of the vehicles location.

I guess iv never really thought about it. Around where I'm from not many cars get stolen. I think iv known of 2 in my entire life. One was a friend of the family to the guy he stole from and the other was a guy not from around here.

I remember when I was younger, along time ago. That people didn't lock their home up when they went out, kept their keys in their car, trusted people in general, helped each other for the pleasure of being a good person. I miss those days.

Problem with Bluetooth trackers is they only have about 100 ft range.... which is ok if you can go cruising the neighborhood where you think the car is but not so useful if it just up amd disappeared.

You can get relatively cheap satellite tracking systems now. Generally a much more reliable option.

I like the idea of these guys that keep things like a giant python or boa in their rigs. Lol, it works in the movies at least. Cause I know even though I have owned large ball pythons, if I were a worthless person and had the need to steal from hard working people I would hop right out if I sat down with a giant snake. And then change my drawers.

I was wondering about that title product and what powers it.
I still may buy one for my ladys keys tho.

:)
