The Weather Channel ?

The people in the background were more than 50’ away and in a more sheltered wind area based on the objects around them.

This report isn’t lying, the wind outside of the sheltered area behind him is just as strong as it appears to be.

The only liar here is the fake interpretation of the video.

So, if that's the case then why wouldn't the reporter just go to the sheltered area and make his report from there without all the unnecessary theatrics?

Maybe if another 50 feet behind the camera pieces of plywood were flying through the air he could have went and stood there? Advanced reporting.
