So, if that's the case then why wouldn't the reporter just go to the sheltered area and make his report from there without all the unnecessary theatrics?

Maybe if another 50 feet behind the camera pieces of plywood were flying through the air he could have went and stood there? Advanced reporting.

Look, the reporter chose the most dramatic spot he could, no doubt. But he didn’t fake the winds that were actually there...and the entire point is that those winds are what is battering the area overall. The theatrics are part of the presenting the full impact of the situation so that people understand the real nature of it.

It is a hurricane and they are reporting the real conditions that the entire community is experiencing, not trying to find a shady spot to hide from it.

What do you want, some guy sitting under a porch saying I only got 3” of rain here while 40 miles away they got 30”+ and are watching their town swept away?
