What do you want, some guy sitting under a porch saying I only got 3” of rain here while 40 miles away they got 30”+ and are watching their town swept away?
That's ridiculous. What I expect is the media to report the facts, in such a way that benefits their audience to the greatest extent possible, kinda like the way they like to portray themselves. If the real news is 40 miles away, then get over there and report it and actually provide some value to the situation for those whose town is being swept away. Instead, they find a breeze to lean into, or a water filled ditch to stand in and create their own news like ratings whores. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that his film crew brought their own giant fan to get that wind effect going.
That's why I like Jerry Springer - he never pretends to be something he's not, and he never pretends that he provides any real benefit to society. He's just another TV circus act.
