I have only used one a couple of times. So not really enough time to make a fair assumption or enough time for me to get a handle on the technique. I use a stud gun with a shrinking tip and a rag with water if I really need to shrink. I can see where they would be useful on thicker gauge to warm up a larger area and work it.
