Wondering if theres any reason these shorty headers wont work in my 70 dart. 1998 5.9 magnum motor, manual steering, manual breaks. 27 torquflite with lokar kickdown cable.

Not here to argue whether long tubes are better or worse i just want to know if anyones tried to install this style before and if they will work?

I had those on my 70 Swinger for years. Manual steering, mini starter, 904 automatic.

They will work, but you better have a custom exhaust guy with some skills and a bit of a sense of humor. The headers exit right above the center link so the pipes coming off the headers have to make a hard turn. I told my guy I don't care how it looks just see if you can make it work. It didn't look pretty and he made it work.

I just took those off my car and installed a set of Doug's. I realize it's an extra $400 for the Doug's, but that's really your best play. Here's a pic of the "down pipes" that were removed from my car.

I had a feeling you might ask me that. Truth be told the shorty's worked pretty well.

I actually gave them to a buddy who bought the shorty's from me. (He's using the shorty's for his engine run stand.) I'm going to his place on Sunday so I'll ask him if he still has them and if he's going to use them. If the answers are "yes" and "no" respectively then I'll grab them for you.

The man at TTI said to me “why shorties?” Hello, A body, you know the rest. He said the long tubes will work fine. He was right. Slid right in. 4 speed linkage and all(i did mod the z bar)
