What will my 68 Dart 408 run in 1/4 mile?

The clocks dont start until the car moves out of the staging beams....Each lane is timed individually......meaning the your lane timer does not start just because the other left you buy a second or two...lol

Likely I smoked my clutch the last time I was racing so this winter I'll be putting a new clutch in it and steeper gears. No more 3.55's. I've got a set of 4.10's laying around so those are going in it.

You still haven't posted what you ran which was the whole point of the thread? Inquiring minds want to know?

there is no shame in not running the number you hoped for. Its a process..

68 Dart. forgive me if I have not read the entire thtread but I have a 1974 VJ Valiant charger (Ausrtralian) that has 410 stroker. It has a small hughes 228 @50 cam in it and only makes 375 hp at the wheels but makes 530 ft lbs torque at the wheels. It has 5 speed manual and 3.91 gears and weighs 1350kgs (about 3000lbs) It has run 11.4 @ 120mph. I could not brake into the elevens at first dropping the clutch at about 2500rpm. I soft launched it dropping the clutch at about 1200 revs and it straight away ran an 11.7. After running slicks and some chassis adjustments it has run an 11.4. I am about to put a larger cam as this one is a baby , 234-236 @ 50thou and will see what the numbers will be but althou it will make more power it may drop the torque band a bit so I will have to see with my launches and experiment. By the way I recently got 21mpg at highway speeds on a trip but I do run 28 inch road tyres and with the five speed do 2400 rpm at 75 mph.

I only got to run it 5 times (was also my first time drag racing a RWD car) but it ran a 12.8 @ 106 with a 1.9 60 foot. I had been having trouble getting it to hookup so for that run I had loaded it up with a full tank of fuel, chairs, tools, cooler full of ice/food, and whatever else I could throw in the trunk. I launched at 3k and it finally hooked but bogged a couple hundred rpm.

I think different tires (currently running a bias ply sportsman pro 28x12.5), better gearing (installing 4.10 and ditching my 3.55's), and a new clutch that isn't slipping will help me immensely as I know I left a ton on the table with those runs. Previous runs I was hitting 110 mph but getting 2.1 to 2.2 60' times :/.

I had taken it to a local track for a test and tune day on October 6th (final one of the year) but it got rained out so I never got to run it again.
