No problem with putting your own together at all, I have built many also. Not everyone has the tools, skills, desire, time, to put their own together, and some just see the value in a dyno tested, 30 month warranty offering. We just offer a cost effective alternative for those people.
I built my first engine when I was 13... It was a 340, and we made a few mistakes and learned.. I've built my own engines since... I used to drive small block a bodies as daily drivers as I could do all my own work and maintenance to keep them on the road...
I rebuilt the engine and suspension on a 68 Barracuda to take to college two states over and it was very reliable...
I had another 68 Barracuda that I bought with 200,000 k on it and drove it to 500,000 k... I had a 318 that I put together and got 17.75 MPG on the highway...
I had many spare parts on hand so if something went out, I could fix it right away... I had a complete brake kit for the car to do the brakes if/when they needed... front and rear drums, shoes, springs, hardware kits, all brake hoses, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, alternators, starters...
I also worked in an engine factory for 8 years... I learned to build them better with my experience there..
