I was curious if anyone has experience with the Hemi engine management kit (P/N177072455AB) straight from Dodge? The obvious surface appeal is that it's straight from the same people who made the motor, assuming you're doing a new hemi swap of course, it's made for dropping into a 70s Mopar, and it "should" work together smoothly. The two basic questions I have are:

1) are there real world reviews of this system (I've done a little googling without much success as far as end user reviews and not just magazine write ups); and

2) are you paying a huge premium vs piecing together a system yourself. I'm, theoretically at least, ok with a little upcharge for the convenience but not as much if it's a huge upsell without tangible benefits.

Appreciate everyone's insight as always (especially as someone new)!

I dont have any personal experience YET. But I'm about to start procuring parts for a 5.7 for my 68 and I've decided that's the way I'm going to go.
It comes with an unlocked ECM and reading through the 29 page installation manual, it looks like the loom has no unnecessary plugs or wires. Just what is needed.
It basically is a 2015 Challenger setup minus all the stuff we don't have on our old cars.

Very cool, I'm trying to be smart about my engine options and I've narrowed my list way down and one of the two remaining choices is the 5.7 so I'm trying to understand how many other pieces, beyond the engine itself, are required and what they cost etc. I don't want to spend money on name brands just for the sake of having it but there is definitely an appeal to going with something specifically made for your application.

I bought all my components for the 392 swap direct from the Chrysler dealer. Free shipping, warranty, and tech support, not to mention the parts mgr gave me his employee discount. I had an issue with the first 392 they sent (a long story but 168 miles into it #2 cylinder failed and I didn't even beat on her) so they sent me a replacement. No questions asked.

Anyone know if it possible to just buy the PDC from the kit? Looking at modifying the harness from the donor car and use the PCM from the kit.

Based on my understanding, at least on the earlier 5.7 crate kits, the ECU was basically just a generic AEM ECU with 5.7 settings preinstalled. The harness was also tailored for the car. You could buy the generic stuff from AEM, though you would have to terminate the harness yourself and do all the ECU setup. It's not necessarily that hard, but it's probably worth the price of convenience to get it from Mopar already done.

That,s a factory unlocked pcm with emissions turned off. Works with 2013 and up motors, I believe

I purchased this kit to use on my swap. I've got a 2008 5.7L from a trcuk, that I'e converted to a car front end and intake. I'm determined to get it to work with a 2008.

FWIW Just I just saw Year One is closing out one of their mopar swap kits.

Fyi, Holley just launched a hemi terminator system. Should all but kill the mopar controller kits unless "mopar" decides to discount theirs $300.

When these came out they were over $1500. The Year One price around $900. is a bit of a drop.
I know you guys are talking early tooth stuff...but These are only hanging around until depleted. Chrysler only sells the vvt engines now. I can't imagine the 32 tooth stuff being supported beyond current inventories. But for your purposes, they may do just fine! Didn't realize they were that cheap.

Ya Johnny,

Cheap enough that I thought about grabbing another one for another build in the future.

Seems a bit much for just a harness? No ECM?

No, not until they can get the x-Max for drive by wire out on the market.

Do the mopar kits have the capability of controlling cooling and AC condenser fans?
