On the last pass before I pull it this Winter we finally got a 5 second pass out of my small block. After running 6.001 three or four times I could taste it and wanted a 5 second pass out of this engine with a solid lifter cam. Nothing fancy, no tricks, and on a relatively budget build 7500.00 build. I was planning on upgrading to a roller cam and more compression over the Winter but I'm so spoiled by this thing I may just freshen the heads, rings, and bearings. Here's so video of the redlighting 5.98 pass.

How much does your car weigh?

2860 will me in it but my son is lighter than me. The little weight difference in this car doesn't seem to affect it in the 1/8 mile racing that our class does as up till this pass I've had the top 7 fastest passes till this one.

Vary cool!!!
Nice photo of your wheel stand.
Time to buy a Picture frame for that one.

Thanks guys. Its been a great little engine and although I wanted to update it with a roller cam I think plans now include checking exactly how much valve to piston clearance I have and see if I can cut the heads some for more compression, I may do some more porting work to the heads and intake. I would love to get a set of Edelbrock Victor heads but its time for me to finish this project before I'm to old to drive it

Love it!! 1/8 mile tracks are the only thing we have around me seems like everyone one here races 1/4 good to see some 1/8 mile action!

1/8 mile is so much better for safety and dare I say cheaper? Well, nothing is cheap in drag racing. 'Wicked car", well said.

Turbo car?
What's the spec's on that one?

very impressive.
what does that convert to 1/4 mile numbers?

They don’t run 1/4 mile for my class at the four tracks I go to but before I changed the low gearset in my powerglide it ran 9.40’s. It needs more cam for 1/4 mile but like I said for safety reasons our tracks moved away from it.

I don't think we have 1/8 miles around here. congratulations, this is very impressive.

Ahh Big E Block.
I seen the exhaust poking out the fender and figured it was a turbo deal
That oughta be a lot of fun!!!!!!

Nice!! That thing is screemin for a NA small block!

you are lucky, 1/8 is about all I see around here anymore, or hear about, I don't go to 1/8 mile races !!

I used to feel this way but now that I travel to a lot of big money races the programs go so much better running 1/8 mile. A friend of mine traveled south this past weekend and after two JR dragsters wrecked they raced 330 feet to get the program in. I'm sorry but if the track is that cold STOP RACING.
