If you are running AP Xlerators how do they sound. Performance? Drone? What setup are you using?

A guy that used to have the muffler shop next to my body shop years ago stopped by to visit the other day. He took a look at my car in progress and, of course, one of his first questions was what kind of exhaust it would have. I showed him the items I already have and told him I was planning on Borla XS mufflers. Thats when he suggested the AP Xlerators. He said they would be less expensive, reasonably quiet and deep toned and he thought they would come in a 22" length if I could fit those. He said he had them on his pickup. The pickup sounded good but only had dual 2-1/2" and the engine is stock. What I need is three inch with center/offset and my engine (416) will have a solid roller cam so it will surely sound a good bit different than his pickup. Can you provide some help?

They do make some great mufflers. They have a 3" in and out, 18" long case, muffler that first right on A bodies. X119 is the XLERATOR number. Are yours offset in and center out? i assume if it is an Abody it will be. If it is not and you truly need a center offset, offset out, I have one heck of good deal for you.

Thanks for the information. Do you know how it compares to the Borla Pro XS 3"? Flow, sound level, any drone etc.? My buddy has the Borlas with tailpipes on a 390 Mustang with a roller cam and it sounds pretty nice. Reasonably quiet, decent flow, and a nice deep authoritive sound. You are correct, my car needs offset in and center out and I am hoping for full tailpipes. I'd love to hear a sound clip of someones car with the Xlerators on it.

This is Dad's with the larger version. Both pipes exit the game side so it has a different tone to it. It is exceptionally cool to drive.

Which ones are the "larger version." That is a pretty cool car for a non-Mopar. Sounds pretty nice.

Pretty sure they are the 5" by 11" by 22" X141. He ran pipes that were ovalized at the outlet so to not make them look as big. He runs Dynomax Ultraflow Ovals now and then too. With no strip, not been able to race it for a while but the last four passes around here it ran 11.40 to 11.43 at around 118 mph. Not bad for 4100 pounds, a 3.55 gear, q-jet, iron heads and iron intake. And full exhaust that is darn quiet.
