good morning
I am looking for a data base/listing of the VIN of the Barracuda that were built in Holland in the late 60s’
Mine is a 68 formula S with the 340engine
She was imported under chrysler simca brand and is fitted with dutch built windows /windshield ...
So i am assuming It to be one of those dutch assembled one

Thank s in advance for your support on this search !

Yes it does have 8digit on the vin tag behind the windshield

You could try and start here;
Chrysler Classic Cars

Unfortunatly for you the website is entirely in Dutch.
Maybe you can have Google translate it.

There's a contact email on the site of Hans Ensing, he worked in the Dutch Rotterdam plant at the time and might be able to help you further.

The 8 digit VIN cars were typically assembled to an unfinished status at the Hamtramck MI plant & then exported overseas to be finished in the destination country.

Some countries import laws stated that a certain amount of the car had to be assembled after it arrived & some countries had different exterior lighting requirements than the US did also.

Sorry what do you mean by « are the wheels wooden »?

It's a joke, Dutch people wear woods shoes, so Dutch cars have wooden wheels

What is the 8th number in the VIN?

No worries gents
I should have known ...having spent 6 years in holland !

The complete VIN stamped in an aluminium plate rivetted under the hood on left fender well is having 13 digit
The 8th digit of this hand stamped nb is the second number on the VIN play e located behind the windschield
The number s 8 which shall mean assembly plant export : is this correct ?

Then i thought holland as the car was imported under SIMCA name and all glasses are made in holland (windshield/window )

I will try to post a couple of pics
The car and engine numbers are matching

Thank s

Emmanuel
