Thanks for the reply! Where do I find this information? I really appreciate your help!

I was searching where a guy found one in his garage and took to a thermo guru...

The 850 competition series have a venturi in the primaries, where as the 1000 primaries are straight through. BTW Thanks Rumble. It's nice to see i'm not alone in the TQ sickness

There a small gaggle of TQ guys here. We all support the TQ. Though truly the best carb for any job is the one your comfortable with. While a Holley will get the nod for 99% of all race cars and very serious street strip engines, these TQ’s can and will perform very well.

Any TQ as built is not as tuneable as a Holley since as Holley has marched on it took the time to notice and react to racers needs by becoming more tuneable. The TQ is not. But it will do more than grocery get and it will haul the mail quite well.

And your correct! 100% correct!

The smaller race carbs primaries are contoured. “Venturi” is the key word and it’s shape. I’ll have to recheck mine but I do think it’s the smaller one. Saving it for a future big block build on top of a M1 single.

The simple same size barrel straight no taper of the larger TQ can also be seen on the Edelbrock 800 AVS/AFB carbs. Below is a 800cfm AVS from Edelbrock. After that, it’s my TQ. I don’t see a taper. I’ll run my fingers over it and get a better look in the day light tomorrow.

I’d like to put it up top a stroker 400 B engine. I’d like to do a 500cid mill. Nothing to wacky. Low rpm mill. (6K or so....) small solid roller, TF240 heads or better maybe.

It will look sinister..I hate the way the new demon thermo remake looks like...too... shiney.so does the 850 comp with screw in jets have a part # 4846sa

The new street demon doesn’t bother me. I like it.
I’m just a guy that like to make old obsolete junk not just run, but kick a little *** too! Just cuz I like old stuff.

Now if I can only get my rotoray dial phone back up and running.....
