The next project for my Aussie 1967 Dodge ute is a full fiberglass hood with built in low line scoop, this is the first time I’ve made a hood, but it’s only applying the techniques I know to a different application. The scoop itself is made from castings of a 1962 Valiant hood for the sides & from the 1967 hood for the centre. So here goes with up date #1

Update #3 underside ready for paint...the underside of the hood has been paneled off, and the cutout lined down to the scoop. The scoop has been bonded on using a mix of vinyl ester resin and industrial talcum powder. Top and bottom have had filler applied and is basically ready to paint. Final sand and check over, then paint starts next weekend, then mould production soon after.

At first , I was thinking "ford scoop" , the curved lines coming out , to the out side really helped make it look better than a ford scoop !!
WELL DONE !!

Marty, you have some skills. That's an exceptionally good looking hood, keep us posted on the outcome.

thanks for the responses….was starting to think know body had an interest in this!!
I'm sure a lot of people are paying attention, but really don't have much to add. It's a very specialized skill set that most people don't have. So they're just watching and learning like me.

Oh wow that is absolutely amazing !! You sir a freaking artist. I wish I had that kinda skill I would do something like that with mine. I want to do a ram air style hood I dont want so much as a scoop but a hole molded into the hood like a aar cuda hood. Or very similar to yours. I love it good job!!

they're not keen on the way I do my posts with the text on the images....I don't have the time to write up a step by step story, so this is as good as it gets!! other forums like the fact that most of the images have an explanation as to what's happening...as I get into making the moulds, then the actual item I'll try to explain in more detail if people want to know....

Damn Man you got some skills, nice job. Keep us posted with the paint progress.

Update #5...Another small update this week….the Quik-Latches finally arrived last week, of course I had a car show to go to on the weekend! I did get one day in on the install….at this stage they are surface mounted but think I’ll flush mount instead….a little more paint applied also!

Don't depend on those quick latches for the only latching method. I have 3 on mine, to go along with five alum. hood pins.

thanks Bob, they are just back ups to the factory latch...it would be very hard to register a car here with only Quik-latches, proving they hold would be a nightmare!

A question for the group….I had the new swage line from the scoop to the front edge of the hood questioned today….it was an idea inspired by the Dart hoods, what do people think? Does it look odd or does it look like it belongs? It’s there to stay now just because I like it but would like your thoughts!
