Now you've opened up another can of worms here in Oregon LOL which great legendary seafood place do you go to when you're in Depoe Bay? Or anywhere on the coast for that matter. Moe's? The Sea Hag LOL the Chowder Bowl....
I probably only been to one of the above-mentioned and that was probably 35 years ago when it wasn't as legendary and as popular lol it takes reservations or huge patients to get into those places sometimes on the weekends or holidays.
I found the only problem with eating out around here is having enough money to do it and trying to think of which place to go to next? You know instantly the thought of "the Miss Delta" on Mississippi Street down in North Portland oh boy the barbecue LOL I'm done....

Moes in Newport was the original I believe...Havent been there in 15 yrs... there was another place on the beach in Newport that was as good.

Back in the 90s we stayed at a place called the Laurensea Motel just south of Newport. It was like a page out of a Nancy Drew novel ! Charming with little kitchenettes and a private path leading down to the beach.. nobody around.. very private and inexpensive.

Those days are gone...urgh...

Thanks. Moes is the one.

Tanya's Tits and Tacos.
I'd like to nibble there

My favorite eateries are the ones;
with NO music, period.
Where the entrance doesn't smell like an ashtray,
where the servers flaunt their God-Given piercing-free faces
and the washrooms smell clean even if they ain't.
I'll go there and eat mediocre food, before I go any place that breaks my rules.
I live close to 7 million eateries, and I have been going to the same one, time after time after time, for 38 years. It is called Triangle Oasis.Their food is not mediocre. There is nothing on their menu that I have tried and didn't like.
Well not exactly 7 million, but there are an awful lot of 'em.

Cincinnati has something most other cities don't, chili parlors.
My favorite is Skyline Chili. If you're not from here, you're going to look at it and tell me that's disgusting, that not real chili, blah, blah...
If you want that Texas crap, go to Texas, this is Cincy baby!
If chili's not your thing, we also have LaRosa's, which is a local chain. It's pretty good, but I like Gramma's better.
Most of the small really good places have become local chains. But there's Swampwater Grill, it's not a chain, yet. It's pretty good so it'll take off too.

Actually local ...Garlands ( their staple is a In and Out burger, hot rodded...A combo is 11.00 and coin , including hand made onion rings , large steak fries ...)
They have added deli stuff ...Vegan ,Pastrami sandwiches. .. you name it ,they can probably can make it...

Unfortunately for us, my wife was a career waitress for 17 years at multiple restaurants up to 5 stars and I was a dishwasher/busboy during Summers in College. We have seen all of the ugliness behind the scenes that the public never sees.

For us, going to a restaurant is a lot like going back to work...and we know far too much about the back of the house to relax and enjoy eating in the front of the house.

While we sometimes enjoy the occasional night out, we rarely do it. We know too much to be ignorantly blissfull about the experience.

We stick with home cooking and restaurants where we know people who work there...and know the secrets.

As a service tech for the Gas Company I found some Mexican ,Chinese and the Perkins in our area scary. The Mexican ones were usually so greasy you couldn't pull the heavy Ranges away from the wall to check for leaks because of a heavy layer of grease. The Perkins was so bad they got shut down. Big advantage for me was I knew which Kitchens were passable to my standards.
