I saw this look the other day and after looking at it for a bit, it sort of grew on me and thought I'd put it out there to see what others have done outside the box as far as striping goes. I saw another the other day which got me really thinking about it (vertical stripe on the rear quarter similar to the Dart but on just one side) but can't recall where I saw it. Looking for inspiration outside the purist look.

I still prefer the factory location down the middle, I guess I'm too nostalgic to consider anything else.
I with you mostly, but also everyone has the formula s stripes and just curious to see what else is out there.

I think it would look better if it was flat black to match the hood, and if it came off the rear corner of the hood down to the rocker then back to the rear wheel.

Here's the stripe we did down the side of my son's 65. Sometimes you can't see it, depending on what angle you look at the car from.

The paint colors remind me of the acr and I think a barracuda would look good with the acr offset stripe down the center.

Honestly- on the older cars where the bumpers and grills are painted... I cant see the stripe all I see is "cheap."
I know re-chroming is expensive- I know- just re-chromed the grilles and bumpers on my 66 Barracuda. Not cheap,
But paint where chrome should be... to me (again my opinion only) looks cheap on these older cars that the designer had lots of chrome in mind when designing them.
Out side of that I kinda like the stripe this way... Lord knows there are way too many 64-66 Barracuda out there with the same damn stripe.
Mine WAS a factory stripe car and I chose a diffrent route to be diffrent. That particular stripe looks like a person with limited striping skills laid out the stripe after the paint was on and with Home Depot supplies.
From 20ft away it possible looks good.
Off soap box.

I don't mind the white bumpers, the grills and center section look cheap as stated previously. don't care for the black hood either not sure on the stripe.

Everyone has their take on the rest of it. Really I was just using that example as a talking point for stripe alternatives. Each model was known for it's high performance packages and distinctive styling. But restoration aside, we're back to "hot rodding." And I find, sometimes, a look that I like for various reasons, one of which is looking a little different than everything else.

If my Fish was a more desirable version, I might be much more interested in the restoration. But I don't have an S, no Hi Po 273, no console and it's a column shift to boot. So I feel like making mine a little different maybe.

I think the concept is ok, but the execution could be better. Running the red band so close/onto to the wheel opening lip wasn't a great choice. Personally, I would have rather seen it cross onto the door than try to jam it into the space on the fender behind the wheel lip.

I agree, they missed the target a bit. I wish I could again find the pic of the other car I referenced in Post #1, but haven't yet. I thought that was interesting too.

That vertical stripe (on the purple car) is just dumb. It doesn't seem to fit at all. The bumblebee stripe only makes sense if it wraps around the trunk.

Which obviously can't be done on the barracuda, correctly

Well, I don't know, I think there's enough decklid to do it, if you moved it rearward. This example tried to center it on the gas cap, which to my mind was not a good idea (there is no gas cap on the righthand side, so ??). It would fit just in front of the bumper returns. I still don't know if I'd like it, but it would make more sense.

Those front fender stripes would look better if they had more slant, and as someone commented, if they ran across the door rather than squeezing in on the fender. I also think they should relate to the black hood somehow -- probably the back edge of the black stripe should come off the back corner of the hood. Right now it leaves this odd corner sticking out. Or instead of painting the whole hood black, bring the stripe up onto the hood and bend it to run forward to the grill, so you would have dual hood stripes. That would be more dynamic.

I'm with this, and additionally IMO it could be at least 30 to 50% wider at the top edge of the fender, folded over the top and the front edge continuing at some shallow angle a bit further forward to join up with the hood, while the rear edge immediately takes a 90* off the fender to the hood. At the bottom definitely landing somewhere in the first quarter of the door.
That might give it an "at speed look".

I'm not fussy at all,am I?lol.

I like the way some of the early cars had the European stripe off center to the driver's side. I always thought that looked good.

Hell with all the vinyl wraps these days you can experiment all you want.

Out of all the Bumble bee stripes I think the 1970 Dart looks the best, following the slant of the body and I'm not just saying that cause I own one! Its a little hard to see but its their.
