so ill be racing at jjs arm drop oct 20th,any tips, only doing it for a pic of my car and his arm drop,do I leave in 2nd gear, ill be foot braking,no nos ,not big power so I might not get out of shape, any tips to get it down broadway will help, rules are water burnout only

drive by the location and check the surface , find a similar surface and practice, practice , practice getting it out of the hole .Most of these short races are won in the 60ft .

I think it will be a eye opening experience for you in many ways.

Previous post is spot on and virtually incontestable. Check surface and find similar spot and practice. Keep in mind the statement on 60 ft is key. Lower tire pressure beyond what you run for 1/4 as you don't care about that spongy oh crap feeling you get on big end as there is no real big end on the short runs. And recognize you may have less room to correct than normal so quicker correction is also handy. Main thing is be safe and have a blast.

mderoy340,true,im watching there show I taped, when the arm goes up is when you leave,if ya break the beam, chase is a race,jj said he was foot braking,is there a reason,i will be foot brake, could use trans brake but not wanting to spin

Doesn't he usually race on asphalt instead of concrete? Going to be tough to get it to hook.

Got a pic of the car so we can root for you? When will it air?

That's why you test, test ,test..... on a similar road. If you can't make it hook, 2nt is your best option.

had a good time there, doughboy said there coming back next year,so will be going,to bad I dont know how to post vids, had the lone mopar as I hear that mopars dont come to these events, did a good burnout, came back did a good dry hope, was a little late,i spun but not much, car went straight, drop tire psi to 7,as most there was running 6-6.5 psi

So you was able to get it to hook in 1st gear?
Glad you had fun.

blew the tires 60 ft out but went straight,im taking it if your going to do it all the time need a powerglide and not a 727

I think there is a lot of thing different between the street and the track.
If you go to a two speed, now you have a hole different learning curve as to what type of converter it likes.
A lot of 3sd getting it done

I know nothing! but i'm going to tell you any ways:rolleyes::D
I really think it has to do with the TQ and not in the way you might think.
I may be completely off base here, But i think they run a vary INEFFICIENT converter to get them out of the hole with out spinning(them steam roller slick help two) Have you seen the High Dollar Billet converters they use. I think there set up to give them a flat long torque curve that gets them out of the hole. Remember, they have more power then they can ever put down on the street. i think the converter is as much there power management as there on board power management.

You hear them bitching all the time that there tranny temp are too hot........ cool to cold nights, 1/8 pass.....How hot does your trans get in one run???

I have many other theories about street racing but it's just all "lazy boy" recliner theory:realcrazy::lol:
