Yea pretty much everything changed there. I remember riding my dirt bike in Federal Way on dirt roads for miles.
A long time in Okinawa.
 
So where is this mythical car? Wonder what drive line it has. It must be pretty light with several feet gone, probably tough to keep the front end down with any kind of power.
 
The same thing was done to lots of trifive Chevys way back when, turn 4dr sedans into shorty 2drs. There was over 5 million trifive Chevys of all body styles built, probably half to two thirds of them were 4dr sedans.

These days, because any 2dr sedan body brings good money, people are converting 4drs into 2drs for a gasser or modified build. It's not that hard to do and the parts are out there.
 
I wasn't on the island all that much, deployed all over the Pacific mostly. Okinawa itself is pretty cool although not much to do there other than dive and hang out on the beach. Pretty much guaranteed 2-4 typhoons a year, never gets real cold (low 60's worst).

Sounds good 60* and need no heater in the shop. I'm in the beginning stage of restoring my 73 scamp and have the heat on all the time now. Gets pretty cold up here in winter so not gonna do much painting till spring.
 
Where are you in ND? I just noticed your location, I grew up in Mandan... it is really a small world.
 
And on that note and in keeping with this thread, growing up there a buddy of mine who was a big Chebby guy had a 55 shorty wagon he was building (or trying to, we were like 16 at the time). Although I was already pretty much a Mopar guy at that point, I always thought that 55 was cool. We never did get it running or anywhere near done.

I'm up by the Canadian border about mid state.
Been to Mandan lots when I worked in the oil field.

Although I was already pretty much a Mopar guy at that point, I always thought that 55 was cool. We never did get it running or anywhere near done.
Kinda sad all the cars that got chopped one way or another.
Chopped the top on a 68 camaro once.and beat the heck out of everything I drove as a kid.
But I repented and doing my best to keep what is left alive.
 
Yeah there was lots of chopping going on back in the day. In my youth I traveled all over ND, SD and MT looking for good deals on Mopars.

Ended up getting married and having kids and just got back into them a few years ago. I always thought Mopar was top drawer after my 68 340 dart as a kid and was sold from then on.
 
I took a break from cars in 86 when I went overseas and didn't get back into them until 2000. I was always an E body guy predominately, but I have had a lot of A and B bodies (as I currently do). What got me into Mopar was a ride home from high school (freshman) from an older friend of a friend who has a 69 Roadrunner that rumbled and shook, jacked up snow plow style and with mags. After that ride I was hooked.
 
I wanted a 70 Cuda when I started looking again but only found junk to restore that's why I got the Scamp, real solid car will be easy to restore and I have a 340 for it so I'm happy.
Been a body man all my life and will finally get to do my own car the way I want.
Would be nice to have a back yard full of parts and cars your one of the few.
 
Its kind of funny, when I was young I was never a big Cuda guy, I really loved Challengers. I did learn how to speed shift in a 72 Cuda though.. :) When I got back into cars it kind of snowballed... I am a little burned out at the moment but it comes and goes. I really need to finish my 73 Cuda so can move on to my Roadrunner or 68 Cuda.

Had a 70 cuda and challenger way back when I like the cuda a little better.
 
Some are like that I guess. I have a buddy who prefers Cuda's over Challengers. Everyone who states a preference usually cannot really explain it, me included.
