Except the diameter of the filter end is smaller than the diameter of the block end. So I'm guessing the rubber seal wouldn't have anything to seal against in that scenario.

to the bet of my knowledge both sides were the exact same, and it didnt matter how you screw it in
(we are talking only about the pipe nipple, right?)
