USPS Fail

Same as insurance here. If insurance is purchased it's for value of parcel, it does not cover the cost of shipping lol.
I've had the best luck shipping USPS. Now I found out a strange policy the PO has. If you ship an item that was damaged by them, and you paid for the additional insurance, ( in this case a 71 Dart grill). The PO originally denied my claim, but after appealing the decision, they agreed to pay my claim. Minus the postage. Come to find out the only time they will cover postage is if they loose your package?, not if it is damaged. By the way I packaged it in a double box and also I used foam and bag packaging. Sold it to a member here and I refunded him a agreed upon amount, before I put a claim in. When USPS paid the claim I sent him the balance of what he paid me.

Yup same here with Coronet rocker mouldings. Seller sent in a cardboard tube and when it got to the PO it was folded. The chrome shop was able to weld and restore them but it was a lesson about shipping trim USPS

I've shipped thousands of parts over the last 15 years through USPS without one problem. Nodda, zip, not one. I package stuff to survive a 6' drop.
Also ship larger, heavier parts with FedEx without any problems,
Quit using UPS 10 years ago. Slow and expensive.

Thats how I do it too...pack it to get there...via a warzone.
USPS is my go to shipper. I always check their rates if its something shippable by them.
95% of the time I just hand the boxes to my carrier.
UPS if I have to, fedex isnt convenient.
Greyhound gets the solo big stuff under 100#.
The rest goes in a crate for truck shipment.

Not to upset you, but the USPS has nothing to do with the United States government, i always thought that, but my best friend works for them and i mentioned the U.S. government subsidizing them, thats when i found out ,so b4 you shoot me as the messenger, ask your carrier or the P.O. clerk.
Well, you're mostly right.
The USPS does have something to do with the government. All postal employees are federal employees. Revenue generated by the Post Office is paid to the Dept of the Treasury. You're very right about the PO taking no tax dollars to operate.

I purchased one piece of door trim for my 70 Dart from a member on Facebook. He packaged it up in two USPS boxes taped together, due to the length.

It showed up yesterday without damage and taped. when I opened the box, it was empty minus some brown paper.

I contacted the member and he said he wrapped it in the brown paper to protect it. So either the box came open and USPS just sent it anyway or I got duped. The member is going to file a claim...

The worst part isn't his trim is so hard to find.
I have that piece from a 71 Dart

Doesn’t upset me at all
