A guy wants to put an oil pan heater on. Can the ribs be ground off the bottom of the oil pan so the heater can sit flat against it? Thanks kim

I believe those ribs are there for structural integrity and while you might be able to grind them off, I suspect it would not be conducive to long term problem free use; in other words i believe they are here for a reason.

I cannot say that as I haven't really looked at it. My point is that the ribs are there for a reason, grinding them off may not end well.

How about attaching the heater to the sides of the pan instead? Or a freeze plug block heater?

years ago I worked at a shop , and this one job came in and the customer told me what he wanted and basically how to do the whole job as I was working on it. When I finished ,He asked If was guaranteed. And I said NO Thats not how I would have done it ,thats what you wanted.

If thats what he wants and he pays for it . Customer is always right. RIGHT
