hey guys, i'm using a pro billet dissy #8546 for the first time. engine is a 500 rb stroker, msd digital 6 box. running 93 pump, dynamic cr around 8.6, brodix heads. 1050 dominator, this is a street strip car. she idles around 900 ish warmed up.
anyways just wanting to know what a good starting point would be for selecting advance curve springs and advance stop bush. cheers

I run 18/35 all in at 3500 with my pro billet but I can't tell you which springs and bushings I used. MSD is pretty clear which colors do what and if you don't have the paperwork it's on their site.
 
That is a fairly primitive distributor so you'll just have to do the best you can. First step is to set the total advance where you want it which is probably somewhere in the low to mid 30's. I've never run the Brodix heads so I can't tell you how much advance they want but I'd start at 32 and work from there.

Advance at idle will depend on the bushing size you install. A performance cam will typically want a fair amount of advance at idle but with the black bushing you'll be limited to what you can give it. The advance curve will depend on a bunch of other factors but typically for a performance application you'll want the advance to come in fairly quickly. As pointed out above, all of this info is in the instructions.
 
Yep, that is one you could probably lock. But if you use some mechanical advance, I would start with a minimum of 26 advance at idle and 32 degrees total. With that distributor I've always had to make my own bushings to set that small amount of mechanical advance.

Mine was lazy off idle untill I locked it out. It didn't matter what springs or weights I tried.
