Midwest Mopars in the Park - Farmington Mn.

On the corner of 40th street and MCFair it looks like a parking area, and at a high grade @toolmanmike , that would make for good camping..
Yep. There's some areas that would work but from what I understand, camping will not be allowed on the grounds.

Motel party in the making, we sure enjoyed our's we had with Keith and Pete, Rainy and the crew !!

Here's the layout. The roadways are paved from what I understand. I don't know if they will use the soccer field in the upper right. If it rains and the ground is soft it could damage the field. Not much shade either. Bring lots of beer.View attachment 1715248889

This is an older pic and main roads Manning and Stillwater Blvd. have been rerouted behind the Holiday Gas Station. During the fair they do use the soccer fields for parking and what not. They also purchased the land to the right near Mendel Ave to expand the grounds.

When I drove by this weekend I was looking at where they are thinking for spectator parking and event parking. It will be interesting to see how they play this out.

ok so no camping on the show grounds? is there campgrounds near by? would need full hook up if possible and room for a 36' camper and a 32' enclosed trailer????? I know its asking for a lot, I really liked Farmington set up, but also understand why they moved the show.

Nothing that Im aware of. Im hoping the club has some info everyone.

Ramie we'll probably leave our trailer at the fairgrounds during the show.
We'll need a spot to park it Sunday night.
Saw you had room for two trailers, so asking early....Sunday only.
If its ok we'd like to park the car and trailer at your place Sunday night.
Most people leave Sunday, and the fairgrounds close. With our drive we don't until Monday.
We'd feel its safer there than a hotel parking lot.

i called on the hotel and they said you had to reserve 2 nights this far in advance. $170 per night

that's just ridiculous for 1 night, all you are doing is sleeping there.

she said she was going to call me back after I told her about the show. Maybe they will have a discounted rate and not have to reserve two days.

Much like the Mopar Nationals, when they moved the cruising off Brice Rd to a town some 20-30 minutes away. The hotels off Brice Rd were still jacking up their rates because of a show that was going on. I asked the lady about a 75% vacancy rate and how they justified the markup, and got the same answer as when they were busy. They can and they will mark up the rates, in the name of capitalism.

I'm ok with the rate. It is what it is, but the 2 day minimum is where I draw the line.

Certainly. Not a problem at all!

I had read that the main reason for the move was they had so many people complain about the dust. Not so much the cost. I am bummed as Farmington is close to me and lots of friends with mopars that go. We always met up at my house and cruised together to the show. Always cool as we had 15-20 cars go together. Oh well we'll give it a shot. Too bad about the camping situation as a few friends come from out of town and camped out for the show.

I think the dust was just a scapegoat. 2 years ago the old tractor and the water wagon worked quite well. It's all about greed. The fair board that manages the grounds wanted more.

Yea I bet you are correct. Either way it is too bad. It was such a good spot.

The worst part of this other than the camping situation, is that we had the best parking I thought . Oh well, sometimes change can be good, I'm pretty sure we will have fun no matter where they have it. I have buddies that are into B bodies, and they don't have near as much fun as us, and are amazed how tight of group we always have there, and how much fun we have!

Slightly off topic but given we're talking about a MN car show... where are the good places to cruise now that University Ave/Porky's is gone. I was out of the hobby for a few years and when I came back Porky's was gone as was the University Ave action. Used to be fun going there on a Friday night to cruise and grab some grub.

Not sure about out in Stillwater, but in Bloomington on Friday and Saturday nights they have a cruise-in and get together at the Applebees and US bank parking lot on Lyndale and 96th. They, Applebees offers discounts on food if you're at the show.

Stillwater cruising is North towards Taylor Falls and South towards Afton on Hwy. 95. its very scenic and follows the St. Croix river. Then you can always travel through Wi on Hwy. 35 back home. Otherwise traveling around White Bear Lake etc.. These are some of the areas I drive since Im so close. Its rural and really a super nice drive

I gotta say, the FABO members I've met, along with the FCBO and FTO folks are some of the best people I've had the pleasure of dealing with at car shows. Parts, info, beer, fun, and did I mention BEER! All to be had that weekend, now we have to adapt to a new venue, but we can at least make our little part of the show a good one. Hey, someday I'll even show up in my Dart! I might have to look into getting a three place car trailer.

I did Residences Inn in Woodbury.
$131 a night Senior rate...maybe later they'll have a show rate.
Hot breakfast
Bar within walking distance
Close to show
That was all we wanted, checked all the blocks!!
