clutch kit?

I like McLeod but for daily driver stock stuff a good name brand replacement if fine. I've used Exedy, Sachs and Luk for stock replacement type deals.

Any parts store clutch should do the trick.

McLeod for sure

You have a McLeod behind a slant six?

There is a clutch write-up over on slantsix.org. I don't believe there is an off the shelf HD race style available and Barbee is talking daily driver.

About 3 years ago I bought a 3 piece clutch kit listed on Rockauto for around $100. It's a 10" HD (think taxi). It does the job, easy on the leg.

It's about 3/4" larger than stock but is scalloped so had to buy special small head attaching bolts from Brewers. It fits the stock flywheel. I'm not convinced I'm getting enough disc departure and I would have no problem using a Luk or other stock size.

I tried the puter looking under O Reilly did not find anything, and they can't answer the phone!! ha. I will check with them and NAPA next time I go to town. Brewer has a 10 in scallop kit for $200 then postage. I will see what slantsix.org is saying. Just going in a darn Road Toad!!! Does not run, the date written on top of the oil filter is 1982! ha Swapping engines when I get the clutch. Who knows maybe the old one is GOOD!!!!! ha

I had a LUK pressure plate fail within 200 mi. of installation about a year ago. Won't buy again. Worse, bought off ebay and Vendor's unstated return policy on defective goods was a 50% refund. Granted they would have given me a new one but after only 200 mi. I did not want their product in my car. It was a Borg and Beck style pressure plate. Before returning it I compared it to the original I took out and it only had half the number of springs between the actual friction plate and the cover. So I'd argue that no matter who's clutch you buy count the springs and make sure it matches your original. Ended up using NAPA and still working well.

I got a luk from rock auto clutch dumping high rpm drops no problems. I had an oriellys clutch lasted a year until it went xploded down the street never again.

I bought a 10" conversion from Brewers and it's been a good one. and works well behind my 4 barrel 273. It has the scalloped pressure plate.

IT is going behind a stock slant so it won't be hot-rodded!!!!! BUT I want one that will last! Back when I lived in North Mo for 30 years I would go into downtown KC. to a clutch store that had been there 50 years. They rebuilt them and provided anything and everything related to ANY clutch. I don't reminder their name. Going there was about the only reason I would travel to downtown there!!!!

Possibly Clutchmasters. We had one in town for a long time and their products and service were top notch.

Rockauto.com still lists clutch kits starting at $80. (Looking at 1962 225)
