Weekend Big block swap

-
I do the same when it comes to tools, or critical internal parts. Keep in mind that not everyone has a budget that allows for $1000 headers. Meanwhile he actually gets to drive and enjoy the car with what he can afford!

Nice job! You must have been loaded up on red bull and no-doz. great planing. I’m sure you called in “tired and worn out” to work today.

Lol!! I work rotating shifts, so i get odd days off. Im used to getting a few hours of sleep here and there. Bang enegry drinks are my fix though!

OK. It’s Monday 8:00 pm. How much did you get done? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

Well, i started to “ding” the two middle tubes on the drivers header some more, when i heard my wife hollar for me. So come to find out my 3 yr old son got sick right after dinner and continued to keep on yacking up nothing until about 30 min ago. So i guess i will have to rename the thread... 2 weekends swap big block scamp lol

Here you have it!! The engine and trans are in there resting place for now.

What ive learned-
Power steering is possible with this setup
(Low deck with 1 3/4 headers) you cant be afraid to hammer in alot of areas though!! Lol
Ill get the scumacher headers next time

Looks like you almost ready to have some fun. I like the belt setup. Can I ask where you got that from?

I'm glad you got it done, I did that swap/header deal back in the days before internet. I switched to TTI after the cheaper header rotted. lol brush and paint every now and then made them last. FWIW the TTI 's required dings too. lol

I really don't see where you beat those headers all to pieces. Honestly, it appears to be minimal. Nice work!

Big problem.... just realized the steering kits the oil pan hard. Also oil pan is touching the k-frame. I was so focused on getting the headers to fit I over looked this stuff. This is turning into the swap from hell..... lol

Ill get you some extra pictures tomorrow with good lighting. Life lesson in this endevor.... drop the k-frame and mock up everything outside of the car. Save lots of headaches!!!

I used a 187 pan per the scumacker instructions. Looks like the idler arm is too long or the motor isnt far enough back?! But the mounts are in right and everything is slid back as far as i can get it.

Is the transmission mounted to the crossmember. that's the first thing I did when I swapped.

I was askin what's his face, but thank you for the added info. Is the 402 similar to the 187?
402 doesn't have the indentation like the 187, to bad you couldn't swap to the later drag link, idler and pitman arm it drops it farther away from the pan.

Thanks. I am not familiar with the 402 pan. The 699? I think it is has the indentation like the 187, I believe.
