Sorry, but that "plan" makes absolutely no sense to me.

Nope, sorry, I'm an atheist.
If you're not for God, then you're against him,
but worse is if you're not in covenant relationship in this life. Because you or your loved ones can be attacked by evil forces, bringing sickness and disease. I say could, cuz a lot of the time satan doesn't care about atheists, cuz to him they are no threat whatsoever, not believing in either camp.
But for us Believers, the spiritual battle against evil is a constant thing. Unfortunately Christians have mostly fallen asleep, and do not know about the armor, nor their spiritual power over demons that they are supposed to have over them.... so satan is well able to trample over them. Futhermore, God Himself has stated hundreds of years ago, that He has the right to curse those that hate Him to the third and fourth generation. So if you had a great grandfather, a grandfather, or your father; who hated God, then You may be under that curse. If you read your Bible you might already know that. So, under such a curse, satan is allowed to come into your life and pretty much do anything to you that he feels like, including to your family. So if your wife is gobbling drugs for whatever reason, or your children were born somehow not "normal", that could be a part of the curse. Cuz the attack is actually on you, to prevent you from returning to God, because you the husband and father are commanded to be the Spiritual leader of the family. It is thru you, teamed up with Jesus, that healing comes to your family. But in order to access that healing power, one of two things has to happen; 1) you have to get Jesus to come and live with you. or 2) you have to take your "not normal" loved ones to a spiritual healer who already has Jesus living inside him.
So IMO, to be an atheist is to ignore the well-being of your loved ones, by shirking your duty as spiritual leader of your clan.
Also, if it was your father who hated God, then the curse can extend to your grandchildren. But if it was/is you, then the fourth generation would be your great-grandchildren. This is a scary thought because God will hold YOU accountable for teaching them error. This may not mean anything to you, being an atheist and all, but God says before you will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire, you will have to suffer in your body for your sins. So in other words you will beg for to be consumed in that Fire.
Again as an atheist you might not care,today. But on Judgement Day you will care very much. There is only so much time allotted to your life and only so much time allotted until Jesus returns. If you die an atheist, or live to see Jesus and are still an atheist, your time is up. It's judgement time. No more will anyone preach to you. No more will God cry for your soul. No more will you be membered. This day I have fulfilled my obligation to try to reach you. Your blood will not be on my hands, nor the blood of your descendants,for that blood is now on your hands.

And the saddest thing of all is that as a Believer, you would have opportunity to send treasures ahead of yourself to be given to Jesus in the NewKingdom. You don't have to settle for being just a footstool in heaven. You can aspire to hear the words of God; "well done you good and faithful servant."
And all you gotta do is change your mind.
