Anybody ever change the gas cap style or location on their early A? I was thinking of welding in the recessed/concave fender section of a 68 Cuda and using the flip top cap. I don't want just the simple adapter as I feel the cap would stick out too far. I also had someone suggest putting it on top of the rear quarter, like a 68 Charger, but I'm not sure there's enough room for that. Who's gotten creative?!

I've seen it done before in the charger location. You can't use the whole trim plate like a charger, but you can have the Barracuda cap there. I'll see if I can find a picture of the flip cap. I think it was in a craigslist ad.

Interesting. I think I'd like it better if it were recessed like the Charger. Mine is a 65 Valiant convertible but I don't think that makes too much difference. Perhaps the Charger cap on the side would look better than the Cuda version.

Just so you know... That bezel added under the Charger fuel door will not fit the smaller recess in a B'cudas quarter panel. You'll need Charger sheet metal for that thing.

I welded a panel from a 68 barracuda on my 73 swinger and added a flip top.
Fit well during mock up before paint but it would not sit flush for the final install. Problem was I had to space the fuel tank down about an inch for the aeromotive in tank pump which threw off everything. Solution was to cut 2" out of the filler tube and used a 2"(id) rubber hose to connect them back. Just thought I would mention this for anyone else doing this. Another tip is to use some dialetric grease on the grommet. It makes sliding the tube in a breeze.
Nevermind all the smudges on the chrome. I just finished installing this when the picture was taken. Turned out great I think.

MoparMike, I like that! Looks very nice. I’m leaning toward that look. I also want to move it up a little higher from the stock location. I figured I’d just use a 2” hose like you did.

You can barely see the cap in this pic, BUT the guy actually moved the bottom of the back window forward to make room for the cap...

I would have to have a muffler shop or someone make a all metal pipe.
