I bought this engine to put in my 1970 Duster but went with a 360 I already had built up. I was told that it was a rebuilt engine and ran great and it shows no leaks. I have never had it apart and it came out of a running 1971 Duster with four speed. I want $2600.00 for 1970 engine, $500.00 for 1970 exhaust manifolds and only if you buy engine, I also want $150.00 for 1973 air cleaner! I will not sell for less so do not ask! I also up loaded a pic of Yellow 1971 Duster it came out of and the Red one is mine!

That's actually a 1971 year engine... 1/7/1970 was the middle of the 1971 model year.... (It starts in July...)

Is it standard bore??? Overbore??? Crank cut??? Compression??? cam specs??? What brand of parts were installed during the rebuild??? Any video of it running???

I thought the ‘71’s didn’t start production until Mid-70...my T/A was built in April ‘70 and has a ‘70 block casting- numbers matching also.

In addition in reference to the block above the VIN shown begins with a 0 which indicates it was in a 1970 model..

as I said in the add that I have never had engine apart so I do not know! just that the engine was rebuilt!

It's a 1970 engine for sure. FW on front of block and the 0 in vin. Not mine, but thanks Rusty...

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. This guy bought the motor assembled as a used engine. To answer many of these questions he would have to disassemble the motor and take it to a machine shop to have it check out. He's only asking $2600 for it ... give me a break! For that money you take a chance or figure it isn't worth the risk... on the other hand it could turn out to be a screaming deal.

Something ain't right here. To much lack of information.
like I said in post I bought the engine the way you see it and I have never had it apart! the guy I bought it from said that the engine was suppose to have been rebuilt and ran fine when he pulled it from his 1971 Duster and the only reason he pulled it was to put his "original 340 engine" back in his car!! if you want it! bring the $2600.00 and take the motor apart and if it is not any good I will give you your money back! if your going to build it up you are going to pull it apart anyways!

My old '70 dart 340 4spd swinger with dual hood scoop that I still have the motor was a June of '70 block and had x heads.

I have never had engine apart but it has great compression when you turn it over by hand, it pushes wrench backwards when it comes up on compression!

That Thermoquad #9800S is Carter's answer for a replacement on the GM/Ford spread bore carbs. They all came through with the electric choke.

PERFORMANCE CARBURETORS

1/7/70 is actually the middle of the 1970 model year not 1971 as indicated earlier.
