I have a stock 68 Barracuda with a 6 banger 225 engine and am in need of a new heater core but one side is 1/2" hose and the other is 5/8". I cannot find a heater core that matches, the ones I found are all 5/8" for both. I'd prefer not to have to both at 5/8" because I'd have to use an adapter. Any suggestions?

Never seen a heater core with a 1/2 hose nipple. Never. Ever. Been doin this since 1974. Seen both 5/8, both 3/4 and one of each, but never 1/2. Never.

i have a 74 duster that i got a used one out of a 71 4 door valiant that has one 1/2 and the other 5/16, i pulled the motor out of a 71 challenger with a 318 that had the same arrangement for the heater hoses, what i run into was the heater cores that i were finding is the copper tubing was a little longer on some than the other and some had 90 degree turns from the core to the firewall. I think some were different according to A/C . If you can put a photo on here i have a spare that i will give you if it will work, it will need to be test for leaks, but it would'nt fit a 74 non a/c duster, the part number on it is 764183981605 stamped on the bottom of copper core, the other one has longer tubes that has the same size hoses , the part number is stamped on flat metal bracket that the core is soldered to has a number between the hoses ,top number 36086 and has 2235 stamped below it and has longer tubes than the other, its identical to the one i used i , if either will work for you all it will cost is shipping. They have been in my shop since summer and i need to clean out some parts.

I recall on my 63 valiant, it had 2 different hoses, 1/2" and 5/8". Also, I just rechecked, at the engine I have 5/8" out of the water pump and 1/2" hose off the thermostat area.

I think someone has change something at some point. The standard heater hose sizes are 5/8 and 3/4. Always have been. I don't know what else to tell you.

i had sent you a pm about the 2 i had, looked them up , 1 is made for a 73 to 76 duster or dart, the other is made for a 70 to 76 duster or dart, both have 5/8 on one side and 1/2 on the other, ebay is covered up with photos of heater cores with 2 different size tubes leaving heater core and would require 2 size hoses, is what my 225 74 duster started with, only reason i changed core was original one leaking and it also had 2 different size on the 71 challenger 318 ,that i put in ,so i kept mine as is, and i it heats better than the 2011 dakota or 2008 ram i have. Could someone have put a newer motor like 70 or newer and changed heater core to match? or maybe the water pump or intake may have been changed, after all, we are talking about a 50 year old car.

There are also heater hoses available that step up to the next size on one end.

FWIW, my '69 has uses 5/8" heater hose in and out.
