I agree with d55dave. Unless you know what the history is I'd avoid used converters. You just might be buying a time bomb. I've said in previous posts, used converters just make a great door stop. They're a sealed unit, and until they're cut open, you just don't know what condition it's like inside. Having worked in the industry, I've seen many a "good" used/hi stall converter head for the scrap heap once they've been taken apart.
Once you've got your engine/axle ratio/tire size etc. finialized, contact one of the converter companies mentioned as see what they say best suits your needs. Just because it stalls at a certain rpm in his car, doesn't mean it will do the same in yours. Above all, don't let price be your only guide when it comes to making your decision. JMHO
