Going to look at a one owner 1970 Charger 500

-
Wow that thing is sweet! I hope the underneath isn't toast.

I'd never paint that thing! Get it safe and running and it enjoy it while you build a nasty big block and make one hell of a sleeper.

It has the seldom seen racing mirror, same as used on A-bodies.

I want to say they were a mid-year option on '70 Chargers, what is the date on the door sticker?

Wow ... dont know how I missed that. I've only seen 1 with sport mirror and know of another in Pennsylvania that is a White R/T with sport mirrors and the rare Go-Wing.

Nice find!! Worth some $$$$ as it sits for sure.

Why do they park them in dirt and let them sink ???? :BangHead:
Moisture doesn't dry out under there, and rust them out. I hope this one is solid for ya

Wow. That car is amazing, what a timeca Don't see as many 70 chargers and all original is even cooler. Just needs a good cleaning and to be on the road again.

Since there are so many B body knowledgeable members on here, what would be a good price for me to go up to?

10k range... I dont care how much other people are paying. If you add up how nuch it will take to restore you could find a done car for that much.
Just my opinion.

Agreed. I love it when people say, "I want $20,000, These cars go for $80,000 when they are done." I tell them, "And your car is at least $75,00 away from being don. So I can't very well give you $20,00 for it, can I?" The absolute worst case is when an elderly widow is selling her deceased husband's car, and a grandson or nephew has convinced her it is worth WAY more than it is. Been there.

69 500s used a Coronet grill that was flush with the fenders , special wide windshield mouldings on the A-pillars , they used filler in the rear window void and had a shorter deck lid. All to make it more aerodynamic.
The 69 was the base for a Daytona to which they added a nose cone , 1970 hood and a rear wing.
Production for the 500 was less than ..Uh... 500.
Leter in the year they produced the Daytona ( Less than 500 made)
Only engines were 440-4 or Hemi... In 1970 the 500 moniker was used to attract buyers on a fairly base pkg.

The Superbird was based off RRs in 1970 and could be had with 440-4 , 440-6 and Hemi...2200ish built

They used WAY more than filler on the rear window. The sheet metal was totally different. Look at the car Roy posted and then at the back of the white car Joe posted. That would be 20 pounds of filler.

it was an entire plug that was installed.. when building a a daytona look alike people used to use a vega hatch for the plug.. now you can buy repopped plugs.

here is the hatch that they used to use to make a look alike.. 69 CHARGER DAYTONA REAR WINDOW PLUG 426 HEMI / VEGA HATCH | eBay

I have been looking for a nice B body for a few months, regardless of real value the value becomes what the market will bear. They can get twenty for it all day long with little to no problem.

I have a friend with a 4sp 68 GTX in QQ1 that is a nice car..not concourse.. but really nice that he would sell for 35k maybe less.
I sold my 70 Charger SE 383 mag , HD 727 , tictoc tach , 6 way seat , HD Suspension .. Well this car here

for 16k 2 years ago.
I left about 5k on the table. But it needed to be gone thru and have some metal replaced . It would have taken at least 15k to make it show quality.

Wait... these cars will come down again.

That's pretty cool. I knew it had to be metal........still could be described as a filler of sorts. I like that look better than the standard 69 Charger.

A good friend sold a rust free 68 Charger 318, green on green about 6 years ago for $14k. If the underside of that 70 is good it would disappear in the blink of an eye for $15k.

Good luck on the buy!
Back in late 1971 my 'ex' and I bought a used 1970 Charger 500 for $2500 from a young couple that were moving to Hawaii and didn't want to ship it.
383/727/sublime green/black interior and black vinyl top.
Sure wish I'd kept it.

Good luck, im hoping guy doesent get any silly ideas.
Would make a nice driver.

Hopefully they havent been looking at the web prices of over inflated cars that have been, still are and will be for sale for some time thinking that is reality

Well the guy that owns it was a retired Tampa Firefighter with me so we have known each other for over 30 years. I tried to explain what he has but also what it takes to get the big bucks out of it.Trying to shoot straight with him. If it's meant to be it will happen.

I agree. But lets all hope Roy gets a DEAL! He's a good dude and deserves it.
