Alright. You have my attention. If I come all the way up there and look at it, will I be disappointed? I have cash. All i am looking for is a solid body. If it runs good that's a BIG plus. I am really interested.

Oh and one more thing.......did this car come from a guy named John in Lawerenceville?

RustyRatRod,

Well, Not knowing your expectations, It's hard to say - but I don't think so. The ad is completely honest, and what you see is what you get.

I have the bill of sale showing that my cousin Tommy bought the car from Jake Chadwick, owner/operator of C&W Motors (a used car lot outside of Canton) on May 2, 1967, for $721.00 plus a 1948 Plymouth Club Coupe with a trade-in value of $295.00, for a total sales price of $995.00. Since we all know that A-Bodies, like fine wines, get better and more expensive with age, I have jacked the price up a little - but much less than inflation! The payments were $44/month...

Actually, the "running" might be a slight exaggeration. I put gas in the carb, and borrowed a battery. I turned the key, and after three tries, she fired and ran for about thirty seconds, with no odd noises, and surprisingly, almost no smoke. Since it hasn't run in many years, and has no coolant, I let discretion take over, and shut it down. No idea whether the clutch is stuck, etc., etc. However, I can say it was "running when parked". :steering:

Tommy's Dad, my Uncle Slim, drove the car for many years as a daily driver. After his health went down, they parked the car, first in a chicken house, then in a basement carport, and finally in Tommy's new shop building. Refurbishing the Valiant was one of Tommy's many projects, thus the sanded and primed spots. Then Tommy's health declined, then he died intestate, and I get to sell everything.

I have actually sold the car - but wait, there's more...

The buyer spent quite a bit of time going over the car, and found no evidence of any collision damage, and almost no body rot. You can see the surface rust, but the only serious rust that he found was some around the rear fender openings, and not much there. He paid for the car, and went away to arrange garage space, truck and trailer. He called me back, and said that he had unexpectedly lost the garage space, and would probably need to cancel the sale. I gave him until next Friday to let me know - but he was pretty despondent, so I think that he is giving up.

So, the car is 90% certain to be sold again. You are, at the moment, first in line...

The car is about two hours and 135 miles from Gray.

Let me know what you think!

Wally

Alright. Fair enough. Yeah, I saw no battery ans thought "it runs?" lol I cannot do anything anyway until after the first, logistically and it sounds like you're committed to holding it until Friday, so, maybe after the deal does officially fall through I can send you a deposit. How does that sound?

Fine by me, if that is what you want to do. I can give you a reasonable time to show up with cash if you are really interested, but if you would be more comfortable with a deposit, that is fine as well.

Let me know if you need additional specific photos. I am almost an hour from the car, so they won't be immediate...
