Has anyone raced the 318 2 barrel engine in stock form? Looking at this engine in NHRA Stock class. Looking to get 300 HP, would put the car around .70 under in the N-O or P class depending on the weight of car. Just hitting the index needs 238 HP. As you know no mods to heads other than any valve job, stock lift cam, any duration, stock intake. Reason is I have at least 10 318s and two so so 340s. Any input would help.
How do I change the header to racing tHe 318?

That’s weird. Search @318willrun and click on his posts, then at the bottom of the list, click all the threads he started. It’s somewhere in there.

Plenty of 318s came with four barrel carburetors. Any reason you cannot run one? IMO, regardless of camshaft duration, you'll never reach 300 HP with a two barrel.

my friend at the drag way raced this truck in stock eliminator with 318 4bbl. In the mid 90's he was class record 4 years straight with it. Weighed over 4010 lbs with driver

He ended up going 360 in both his trucks in stock eliminator. This is his other truck with 360. This truck went a best of 11.38 @ 115 mph. When he is racing class, he has another hood class legal.

He is trying to run NHRA stock eliminator with a Duster...no 318s with 4 barrels came in Dusters...
I have not seen any 2 barrel 318 Dusters in Stock....i will ask some "friends" who race stockers what they know..

I heard back from a couple of stockr guys who said, good luck, factored hp to high. Lucky to get 250 out of the combo. I'll flow a carb-intake-head to see what I come up with later down the road
