I am building a mopar 360 to put in my 66 dart for some fun quarter mile days but also a fun street rod. It has stock compression, stock heads, stock crank and rods, .030 over pistons, dual plane Eddlebrock performer intake, 650 cfm Eddlebrock carb, stock eletronic ignition, new flat tapped cam 224 230 at 50, 110 separation. And shorty headders. What are you guys and gals thinking that this motor will make for hp and tq?
Also, I will be having a 727 trans from a dodge d200 truck and was wondering what converter I should get and maybe a shifter kit recommendation? It's my first build. Also, does anyone have an 8.25 or 8.75 a body rear end for sale? Sorry for lack of knowledge. It's my first build and I'm a highschooler.

300hp/350tq

I've got a similar build with a touch more cam, HP manifolds, 750cfm carb, 0.060" overbore, and a legit 9.4:1cr. I'd estimate my build is 300hp/370tq. I'm wanting some TTis and some RHS LAX heads. I think I'd make a legit 350hp/400tq then.

Welcome aboard high schooler! The combo is nice.
I’m on board with the above replies. In the future, a little more compression and upgrading the heads will yield some really nice positive results since it seems this is all the engine lacks.

Your probably going to look for a 2500 stall converter and a “Trans-Go” shift kit is good to get.
Search the classifieds for the rear end. The 8-1/4 is by far cheaper and will hold the power no problem. I would look to a 3.55 ratio (min.) with 26 inch tires.

The 3.55 will work on the Hwy. fine.
To get this car off the line better would be a set of 3.91’s or 4.10’s. There a barrel of fun! But there not the very Hwy. friendly rpm wise.

Welcome aboard! Yeah, probably around 300 HP is a good educated guess. One way to have a little more fun on the cheap is to throw a 100HP shot of nitrous on it...
Great project for a high schooler. Drive it safely, and have fun with it!

Welcome aboard. I am doing a similar build. What pistons are you using?

My Barracuda went 106 @3650 me in it with the same cam spec but with OOTB Eddies and 10.9Scr, a manual trans and 3.55s. That is listed as a P/W of 10.8 in the Bulletin Book, so the math says 338hp. So with stock compression and iron heads 300 sounds about right. Your lightweight-Dart automatic should go about the same ..... Have fun

It'll be fun as hell, don't get caught up in the b.s turbo crap other people will tell you need its not necessary. It will be a handful without it.

As a high school kid HWY friendly should not even be on the radar...

Go 5.56 rear gear and get a job at your local tire shop.

:)

You might want to check out the 727 out of the Truck...as some have a short tail shaft on them...

Gotcha. Thanks for the info!

It does have a short tail shaft, but other then may be a different custom mount and a longer custom drive shaft is there really any down fall to it being a short tailshaft?

I would say 275 hp. 290s tq. But with a gear, a conveter and some pocket porting on the heads with a multi angle valve job. You would be well on your way to a lot of fun... I would stay with a small tube header with extension. Or if u run a full ex no bigger than 2 1/2 pipe... Atleast run 3/8 fuel line from back to front. Pocket work on on the heads, converter ,and a set of gears in where your ET and mph will come from.. Good luck

Okay great! I am glad to hear that because I did not really want to fork out the money for an 8.75. I am thinking eventually that I would go back in for higher compression pistons and alanininum heads but I would need to save for a while. Thanks for the info

Awesome, thanks for the info. It's already all together and I don't want to go back in for a while but in the future when I have some more $ saved

Well I do want to take some short road trips in the thing so I think the lowest gear I would go with is 4.10. And yes for sure, I work at les schwab. Which is a chain tire shop for anyone not from the west.

Yes for sure. If I have the money and I take it to the track enough for it to be worth it I may go with a small nitrious shot. But I don't have money for boost anyway least not for a while.

Also, do you know how big of a tire I can throw in my dart with out tubing it?
