I was thinking of swapping out my 72 Dart front seats so after reading a lot of old posts I went out to the car to look at the seat rails. I saw this and I was wondering how I'm supposed to take this off? Is there a nut under the car. It is raining cats and dogs so I haven't had a chance to look. Just wondering if anyone knew.

Nuts with captive washers are under the floor.
 
Yeppers Alaskan ta is correct. The nut is on the underside of the floor pan. What your seeing is the back side of the stud.
 
Well thank you gents, I guess there will be another nut under the car soon.
 
The studs sheer off easily with age.

So if you have a tap & die set, chase the threads under the nuts to clean them.

Then spray the nuts & washers with a creeping oil of some type & let them soak a bit before trying to loosen them.

I can only imagine, 46 years of dirt, mud, oil, and who knows what else.
 
Worse yet is if the track is a bit crusty around the head of the stud and it spins out while you’re trying to remove the nut. Liberal pre dosing of penetrant is suggested.
 
Snapped one of mine off two weeks ago. Pay attention to the posts above me. And I did spray them down beforehand still.
 
Looks like theres fresh carpet around that track. It may have been apart not too long ago. Penetrating oil, and scrub the studs threads with a wire brush to clean the junk off em.
 
My 2Cents -
I always use a torch (hand held propane torch will also work fine) and get the nut about glowing then hit them with a impact (3/8” chuck with 1/2” deep well socket in a 20v cordless Dewalt impact)
Bap! Bap! Bap! In-then-out - In-then-out. (Pre soaking with Liquid Wrench or even WD40 a few days or weeks prior always a good idea)
I’ve yet to break one with this method unless they are already rusted beyond help.
If they break, smack out what’s left with a hammer and use (not sure shank size) bumper bolts from any parts store. (Scuff and paint black first)

My fix for a broken seat track stud has been to drill the center where its broken off, and tap with the same size threads as the original stud. Then take a grade 8 bolt of the same thread size. (I think seat tracks are 1/4-20 thread, but its been a long time since i repaired one). Cut off the bolt shank keeping just the stud portion. Thread the stud portion in , and weld it at the top where the original stud head is.
