Haven't started my new 400 stroker yet and I'm sure the performance of the Firecore wires is among the best. The quality looks good but really disappointed with fit. Yea I know all engines are different but shouldn't it be rather simple to make the wires fit with out hanging all over? I would think they are all fairly standard. Plus it sure looks like the boot on the #5 plug is going to need a shield as close as it's to the header. They are the 2-1/8 SR step header but I would think I'm not the 1st one to use that size. Hate to call him up again as this is my 2cd set already. Whatcha think; am I being too perfectionist (anal)?

When I route my wires on a big block A-Body they hang down below the head and I use separators in couple different spots especially near the front. The last wire on the drivers side and passenger side goes between the intake and the valve cover. I have put all 4 wires on the passenger side under, but is works better the original way. Here are some pics of a stock engine wire routing.

for that kind of money I wouldnt be happy with the way they fit either and yep, sure seems you need a shield there

WOW! those look way too long.. glad they never answered the phone when i was doing the dart. i'd be pissed if they were like then when i got them..

ended up going with a vari angle boot from MSD that you make yourself.. very happy with how they worked out on the dart.. sloppy looking plug wires annoy the hell out of me.. :)

Got a picture of that , please.

I agree with Johnny Mac, time for a universal set, make them yourself to length with some separators & some heat shield on the ones close to the header tubes.

Added pictures above. Same basic principle with aftermarket wires and headers though.

Joe I saw a lot of positive comments about Firecore even at the price from the board here and on Moparts. It's almost sacrilegious to complain about a sponser I guess.

I highly recommend a "crimp it yourself" type kit, like the USA made ones below. You can take alot of spaghetti out of those...

Main reason I ordered them pre-made is cause I admit it; I'm a "klutz".

lol. yea over at moparts they really talk him up..
almost got my head ripped off when i asked why they would build the dist with the stock style advance plates and all.. to me if you are making a performance dist i'd want it easy to change springs and weights... but hey why do i know...

for wire looms i really like these https://www.made4youproducts.com/smoothie summit and amazon carry them. i usually have to buy two packs to make them work how i want...

like i said in th elong run i'm glad they firecore never answered the phone.. i usually rin headers on my small blocks and run the wires on the outside of the valve covers but the manifolds were too close to wires for my liking so i ended up running them on the inside of the valve covers.. i wasn't sure how i liked it like that but it kept them away from the manifold on the drivers side. i've had positive comments about how they are run so someone atleast like it..lol

HemiSSdart shows the correct routing for stock BB "A" bodies. Wire kits are made for this routing. That being said, over the last 50 years I have never used a kit on my personal cars. I always "cut to length" my own set for a perfect fit.

on a side note: i bought this a few years ago ( Tool ) and these jaws for it... and man is it super easy to make plug wires... once i figured out how i wanted to run my wires i think it took 10-15 minutes to make all 8 wires... awesome tool...

Yep. Definitely not impressed with his distributor. Mine melted the tip off the rotor causing a tow bill. Had his wires on a sb and didn't think they were any better than msd or moroso wires. Did get a refund on the distribution. But it took awhile.

Joe what is that under hood wire on the passenger fender for. Don’t believe I’ve seen that before.

the copper or the black? both are dealer installed a/c piping.. like how shitty they did that? i've been meaning to pull it out all together but just never got around to it.. it annoys the hell out of me..

Joe will confirm, but that looks like an AC line from the dryer to the condenser, but I have never seen copper tube used for that...

yes thats what it is.. dealer install knee knocker. what a shitty job.. one day i'll get around to pulling it all out..

What would happen if you tried running the driverside cables on the inside of the valvecover instead? with 1 and 3 going over the valvecover and 5 and 7 going either over the valvecover or even around the back of it, and then the same with the cables for cylinder 6 and 8? just thinking of ways to route the cables in ways that would eat up some of the cable lenght that may give you a cleaner looking install. Then again im one of those guys who has a tallent for creating a spaghetiinsident with cables.

@abodyjoe

Nice exhaust manifolds... :)

Compartment looks great, sans that AC line. Grade school level of "Pride in your work" there.

Routing wires on a BB with headers that aren't fenderwells sucks!

I agree with Joe. I bought some MSD Boots and terminals and Tool. When my wire starts getting a little crispy I shorten it with new terminal and boot. Once I run short I will try the cut to fit ones.

That’s how I have my wires routed on my bigblock GTS
