1972 Duster Project - Back From The Pasture

Thanks all, I figured this thread was dead. I mainly come over to A Bodies these days to follow Kueneman's build with his daughter. That one will be a 72 from hell. Jim is doing a fantastic job.

There are still a few things that bug me about our 72. Hairlip in the grill (new one on back order from CI until god knows when), driver side door adjustment still haunting me, a few flaws in the paint I don't like but what the hell, it's a driver for a high school senior and he is digging every minute of it.

Santa hooked JR up with a new set of headlight bezels from OER and a Tach. We slammed the tach in this morning. Waiting on the grill before we install the bezels. We will take it on a short road trip tomorrow to help seat the old rings. Oil use has dropped way down since we fired it. We figure a good stretch of the legs on the highway will do the original 72 power plant some good. Pulls damn strong.

Did you order the Sharktooth or the new standard grille? Also the door. After aligning our doors I have a thought. Are you sure you don't have the striker too far IN? I found with ours if you push the striker all the way in it will catch on the FIRST catch on the door latch and the back of the door was about 1/4" out. It was a bit of work to get it to close on the SECOND catch and one door I had to pull the striker all the way OUT to get it to close with the new weatherstrip.
