Needed to clean the inside of the Windshield. Could never get normal glass cleaners not to streak. Tried using windshield washer fluid and it worked better than anything else I've tried.
The washer fluid with "De-icer" around here doesn't work for crap. Tried an old can of
De-icer, no better. Found a simple mix that works SUPER. Mix one part water with two parts Rubbing Alcohol. Give the thick frost or Ice a good spraying, wait a few seconds and then turn on the Wipers. Run the Wiper long enough to remove all the liquid or the Alcohol evaporates and the remaining water will freeze again.

I’ve always had good results with “Windex” brand glass cleaner on the inside.
The “how to” article is good.
I use Bon Ami on the outside

Always had great results using GM! Windshield Cleaner and newspaper, no streaks and clear. Experts do not recommend using Windex as it blurs the windshield when raining.

I use bon ami and news paper. I clean them while in shop, and polish with dry paper.
Usually dont have newspaper so its paper towels.
I add a few ounces of isopropanol to my washer fluid tank. Up here its good to -35,but none really de-ice worth a crap.

How do I keep the crap from building up on the inside of my car windshields? Seems like they all do it now?

It's probably cancer outgassing from the plastics.

Yup.
Driving a cold vehicle, no warm up time is a big contributor.
Windows closed tight and no ventilation. Also a skiff of snow that passes through heater core. Condenses on the glass.
