Please help with pic..

Have you looked at your engine and transmission mounts to see if the are worn out and collapsed? You likely have the old biscuit style unless someone has changed them to spool. I have seen spool ones completely debonded and failed allowing the engine to suit an inch or more lower than factory, which would place the shifter lower. Have you confirmed that the aluminum plate that mounts the shifter to the transmission is the correct one? Do you have a short A body transmission, or a longer B/C body one with someones home made shifter mount plate?

Yesxi have the biscuit type but they are new (less than 3,000 miles on them)
I was actually told that my engine may be sitting a tad too far back (towards the firewall) but that would only make it closer to me as the engine is closer to me.
The shifter is an original one (Like I said...i have an original one, and one from Brewer's that's a reprop one) and they both sit the same.
The tranny is a 340 A Body 4 speed also and the plate is a stock one.
Can it be that the shifter I have is a bolt on shifter and I have "whatever else is the opposite of a bolt on shifter" ?
I recall they telling me the shifter I got from Brewers is for a bolt on mechanism because I saw the Hurst shifter I removed when I didn't have a console and was your typical looking 4 speed shifter ( which by the way is available if anyone needs one for a reasonable price) had only one hole at the bottom of the shifter while my shifter had two holes ?

4SRT (Steve) I was going to wipe to you also to ask you what you thought about it add you have the same set up if I recall correctly but I knew you would eventually find your way gets... LOL

Alright guys, I'm still looking to see a shifter like mine in a console that someone has and can give me his opinion.

Thanks

P.S. This is truly screwing with my thoughts everyday, I have so much to do but I can't go forward until I settle this matter.....and it's going to be a loooooooong winter if nothing is deduced.
