Anyone out there using the hellwig 5906 sway bar kit that also is using the supplied link mounting tabs which use the shock bolt as the mount location. Had bar up there ( loosely ) and the link looks awful close to interfering with the strut rod??

Hellwig Anti-Sway Bars 5906

ok forget this request, im gonna go with the hellwig 55905 and grab another LCA with the 73 and up sway bar tab.

back to this compromised passenger LCA bushing. this is odd!!!! looks like the outer shell pushed thru the arm housing. Dont know how that could possibly happen?

stiffing plates will be welded on the refurbished units.

so been acquiring the needed items to get this project started. basically the whole front end is off excepting the K. still rehabbing the LCA'S . once those are done its a bolt it back on fest. Then tear into the rear.

so pressing in the new LCA greaseable bushings turned out to be a FAIL. basically destroyed the graphite trying to press in the shell all the way. i did what PST told me to do which was place a piece of plate steel on the bushing and press it in. Are you supposed to grease the outter shell and inner housing prior to pressing it in? the shell did not seat all the way before the bushing collapsed.

decided to scrap the grease able pivot shaft kit and go back to a OEM kit. cleaned up the arms, etch primered and painted after the reinforcing plates were welded on. new shaft/bushings pressed in with out issue. got em bolted back in with new 1.03 T-bars.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting updates. I'm in the process of rebuilding my '74 Swinger's front end and your posts have been helpful. Happy Holidays!

sway bar loosely fitted up there. PST solid tie rod adjuster worked great.

ok, new ESPO stock height springs installed with shocks. had 2" lowering blocks and ended up using 1.5" for desired ride height.

I spotted this thread while doing a search about Hellwig #55905 sway bar. That's a really sweet Duster!

Boy, I bet this is REALLY gonna handle differently!!!!!!!

thanks, have not really got to test everything out yet. ordered the espo springs "stock height" and my exhaust was hitting top of spring. pulled it apart again and having the local spring shop add 2" of arch. will report back once all is back together in a week or so.

just reporting back. added 2" of arch and that resolved the exhaust slapping the top of the leafs. i am officially done and this car handles and drives like new. Probably better than new. i can actually get somewhat aggressive without fear in corners now. well worth the money spent on mods. This site was instrumental in the selection/choices to get it where it is today.
