Kevko oil pans?

Starting to build a 360/420ish?
Using a 4.125 crank, eddy heads, hyd. roller, etc.
I’ve read good things about the Kevko pans.
I’d like it as stock looking as possible, was thinking the one that holds 5 quarts
(Making it a 6 quart system)
Thoughts or any real life experiences with Kevko?

I've never seen an aftermarket pan that looks remotely oem. I took two oem 360 pans and cut the very bottom out of the first pan, and cut the sump out of the other, and added the sump to the first pan. IIRC, it added about 1-1/2 to 2in (?) to the sump depth and a couple qts to the 360 pan capacity. That part was fairly easy, extending the pickup was the hard part.
If you put on a deep pan, it is going to hang lower, and be exposed to impact. You might want to add a hemI skid plate to the k-member, and/or add heavier t-bars to avoid bottoming out.
 
just bought 2 of those... one for a 410 and the other for a 408. They fit well, have baffles and clear everything in the car so far.

EDIT--- They do not look OEM though... they're still a performance aftermarket pan, just not a ginormous one.

Just a heads up on your heater hose bypass, I had problems with running hot when I was plumbed like that. I think it was AJ that pointed it out?

I cut a long shouldered bolt and clamped the out let, plugged the hole in the manifold and it helped. You can just see the head of the bolt. Make sure you clamp on the non threaded section or it will leak.

mine has been running like that for years.. no overheating issues. But doesn't really matter the car the engine is going in isnt set up the same as the car it came out of. hoses will be different when it gets installed.

Is that the M302 - 5 quart pan which makes it the 6 quart system?
I’m looking for fitment, quality etc.

I have run one for years. Pretty happy with it and would buy another one. A couple of issues I have found. The first is the hole through the windage baffle for the dip stick was a little small and my dip stick missed the hole and the crank snapped it off. It could have been the ham fisted Monkey who was checking the oil fault. The second is that if you look at the drain plug it is located outside the baffle area. So when you change the oil the gates trap a good bit in the sump. I just added another drain plug. It only hangs about 3/4" below the k frame. That being said mine is 10 years old and they may have change. I added the one behind the front one

I put one on my 360 and in my 74 dart.
I like it better than milodon pan.
The oil pickup has a tab to be bolted to main bearing cap and it did not line up,maybe for studded bolt if you had a windage tray setup prevouisly...I tack welded the pickup to the oil pump.
It is a nice quality setup.
Mine was M302

yep both m302, they hang as low as a stocker, maybe just a hair lower.
 
Doesn't hang that much lower than the stocky. Collectors sit lower

Let me just mention the fact that on my '65 Valiant Bracket racer I used the larger lower control arm stops (see first foto) to help protect the rear-sump ten quart oil pan (with steering link tunnel) from getting smashed.

If you look carefully (in the second foto), you can see how I painted the bottom one inch or so of the oil pan bright white so I could easily spot/monitor any damage to the bottom of the pan.

I will probably use the same procedure when I install the Kevko oil pan in my '72 BBody.

P.S. I also used the large control arm stop on my bracket racer's pinion snubber.

I have one that leaks oil where one connecting rod exited the pan. Other than that no problems...
 
I had a Milodon with that problem too!
