Hey Folks,

Getting ready to dig into the front disc brake conversion (Wilwood) on my 72 Duster 340. And will be ordering some of the remaining parts I'll need to complete the project.

Currently 10" manual drums all around. Want something that will bolt right up and look fairly close to the stock MC. Thinking about going with something like this Raybestos MC36406 - 15/16 bore unit.

Anyone see any issues with this option? Also, will be getting a front disc/ rear drum brass proportioning valve.

Thanks in advance!
Pat

I used the stock master when I switched to disc front. When I went to rear discs I swapped to 7/8".

You should not use a drum/drum master with front discs. The Raybestos is a good one for the application. Mopar used a 1-1/16" bore for manual discs in A-bodies, but that makes for a much stiffer pedal than most people are comfortable with. 15/16 bore reduces the pedal effort to a more reasonable level.

I've got the manual 4 piston Kelsey hayes/ drum rear set up on my 70 Dart. Works fantastic.
Would that master cylinder work?
Honestly, I'm happy enough with mine that I'm wondering why you would want wilwoods.
Maybe the small bolt pattern is why you wouldn't?Hell, I don't know. Educate me.

Go to your nearest NAPA store and order a master cylinder for a 1973-1976 Valiant/Dart with disc brakes , non-power . $38.00 plus core charge . You might want to get an adjustable brake push rod . Be double sure to bench bleed master and push all the way in.

Wanted a simple kit that didn't require me to replace anything other than pulling off the old drum brake assembly. Just bolt the new kit onto the original drum spindle easy peasy. Why Wilwood? Why not? Have used there stuff on other cars with good results.

Makes sense to me! I didn't know it bolted onto the drum spindle. Sounds like an easy swap.
